Our Work

Organizing for Empowerment

True empowerment is far beyond the narrow meaning of development. The organization has seen the felt need and importance of a shift from service delivery mechanism to empowering community through capacity building of Self Managed Groups. Thus the present thrust is on building people's organizations and develop the capacities of the community to enable them fight for their rights and improve the quality of their life.

Organizing a community and building a community based organization is an essential dimension of an empowerment process. We, In order to bring people together towards a common goal, make continuous efforts to mobilize the community at different levels. The different methodologies that we use are personal visits and interactions, community meetings, rallies, dharna etc.

We organize people in the field areas through youth groups, self-help groups, peace committees; rights based groups, and children's groups. These people's groups address various issues facing them such as accessing civic facilities of water, drainage and sanitation, electricity connections, ration cards, voter identity cards, accessing government welfare schemes, mobilizing savings and credit, maintaining communal harmony, fighting forced evictions and demanding rehabilitation, understanding their human rights, child rights, livelihood concerns, and so on.
