Protsahan Diwas: Encouragement Day
Being our Independence Day August 15 is observed as Independence Day in all our working areas. But SXSSS observes the day in a little different way by interweaving different aspects of real freedom in the celebration. It is organized in working clusters with hundreds of people participating.
Considering education as an important tool towards real independence Protsahan (encouragement) programme is interwoven with the celebration of Independence Day to encourage the students passing std. 10 or 12 with good percentage. Educational kit and certificates are given to the students. Students not associated with our educational programmes are also included in this. A few students from them also share their experiences of struggle and how they got success to inspire other students. The students who completing their certificate courses in vocational trainings conducted at youth vocational training centres of SXSSS are also given the certificates for completing their courses.
As we believe only participation of people in their development will make the dream come true people themselves contribute for this programme understanding that the programme is to appreciate and encourage the children of their own areas. This also increases their participation in the programme.
Organizing the marginalized has remained our ideology in order to empower them to take responsibility of their own process towards independence. Preparatory process is an important component as many area leaders come out taking responsibility of the programme. They not only contribute and participate in the programme but we witness them taking ownership of the programme and mobilizing people, which shows their growing awareness about education. Flag hoisting and prize distribution is also done by the leaders, guests and one or two students in each cluster.
Thus, different dimensions together with Independence Day celebration make the day more special and meaningful. These dimensions- education and organization for just rights- together may work towards real independent.
